OM Sculptures

Julie Whitehead, an experienced and inspirational yoga instructor (now retired) wanted to create the most spiritual representation of the sacred yogic symbol, the OM.

Her husband Hugh, retired architect and computer genius, was able to conceive this usually flat 2D symbol into a 3D sculptured piece of metal art, bringing it to life with emphasis and expression through curves and clean lines.

Hugh worked hard to devise a simple prototype, which he successfully achieved. However, he wanted to bring this design into production, so that other people could enjoy the beauty of his concept.  Design changes were needed to enable this and hence, discussions with Northshore began early in 2021....

We worked side by side with Hugh and Julie for many months, to ensure that we got the complex design to work successfully whilst matching their exact requirements.

In late 2021 the OM sculpture was ready!  Production commenced and Julie was able to promote the OM as limited editions to her yoga students friends and  through her Instagram account, Om Sculptures.

Each OM piece was laser cut and then individually shaped using a sandbag and rubber mallet design and then each sculpture was assembled by hand. Once each one passed Hugh's exacting quality check, they were sent off to be powder coated with a high quality finish of sparkling silver.

As production progressed, we thought, why stop there? So, together with Hugh and Julie, we developed an OM RANGE to include not only the original table top OM, but also a  similar sized wall hung OM, a larger sized Studio OM (also wall hung) and a large garden sculpture.

All these products were sold as Limited Editions through Om Sculptures.

There are some Limited Edition Om's available for sale, which you can purchase by contacting Julie on her Instagram account 'Om Sculptures' or you can contact us direct at Northshore, and we can forward on your enquiry.

In memory of our dear friend Hugh Whitehead, who sadly passed away in 2023, please do scroll through the OM Gallery, to see how this beautiful and spiritual piece of metal art came to life.
